Baby Hummingbirds

I have been documenting an Anna’s hummingbird nest and it is getting very close for the baby hummingbirds to leave the nest. You can see in the video that it is getting a little crowded as the baby hummingbirds grow bigger. Sometimes it can be tough being the younger hummingbird. You can see in this video the younger hummingbird getting some serious repetitious slaps to the face....

The Plight of the Female Anna’s Hummingbird

Male hummingbirds do not make good fathers. They are always trying to impress the females with their courtship dives and frequently looking for a new mate. The females get left having to make the nest and tend for the young while the males do nothing to help. It must be tough being a female Anna’s Hummingbird. Here is a picture of one that looks a bit warn out. I am sure there are some people out there that can relate....
